Kittens in a Blender Review

Kittens in a Blender is a fun card game for two to four people. Now, before you start complaining about how bad of a game this is, when you purchase a copy, they actually make a donation to a no kill shelter. We don't want to actually hurt kittens.

Inside the box, you will find a lot of cards. You have your over sized Blender card and an over sized Box card. There are sixteen kittens in each of four different colors, you have movement cards that move kittens that are in play, you have other action cards such as Dog in the Kitchen which pass cards left or right and cards that move all of the kittens from one place to another. There is also the Blend card and Blend Pulse cards

To set up, place the Blender and Box cards into the empty box halves. Leave an empty space between the box halves. This is the counter area. Each player will choose a color of kitten cards. If you are playing with less than four people, remove the remaining color kitten cards. They will not be used. Shuffle all of the cards together and deal out six cards to each player.

Take turns playing two cards. You MUST play two cards every turn. The point of the game is to save your kittens by placing them in the box while putting your opponents cards into the blender. You can play two kitten cards, a kitten and an action, two actions, it doesn't matter as long as you take two. If someone plays a Blender card, you can play a Blend Pulse to save the kittens. If the Blend Pulse isn't played, the cards in the boxes are moved to under the Blender card and the Box card. These cards are now out of play.

After all sixteen Blend and Blend Pulse cards are played, the game is over. For each cat in the Box area score two points. For each cat in the Blend area is worth a minus one point. The player with the most points wins the game!

This game is really fun. We had a lot of fun talking about the pictures of the cats. Each card has a different cat on it and they all have names. It's a well made game with great art work. There is some strategy and luck to this game. Sometimes you will have a good play all set up and then you will have to pass your cards. It is really simple to learn and play. I'm sure kids can pick this one up pretty easily. It plays rather quickly as well. It's great for a time filler or when you want an easier game. I hope you enjoy this game as much as we do!
